Why is the brand name AsynRoamCoop?
Our vision is to use wireless technology to automate outdoor operations.
Outdoor automation is much harder than indoor automation and comes with many constraints. Two of the most fundamental are energy supply and power efficiency. Without solving both, meaningful outdoor automation is impossible.
To keep outdoor devices running reliably for long periods, we use an asynchronous connectivity approach - "Asyn". Instead of staying online continuously, a device connects to the network at regular intervals, which greatly reduces power consumption.
For our chicken coop door, that means connecting to the internet once every 10 minutes to check for pending tasks and then disconnecting again.
That is why we chose the name AsynRoamCoop. It is nerdy - we know - but it genuinely expresses our vision.
